Rabat –The official spokesman for the government, Mustafa Paytas, announced that the next legislative elections to elect members of the House of Representatives will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, following the approval by the Government Council of a draft decree specifying the date of this national entitlement.
Paytas explained, during a press conference that followed the weekly meeting of the Government Council held in Rabat, that the Council approved draft Decree No. 2.26.190 regarding setting the date for the election of members of the House of Representatives.
The government official indicated that the draft decree, presented by the Minister of the Interior, aims to determine the date for organizing the legislative elections, in addition to setting the deadlines associated with submitting nominations via the electronic platform designated for this purpose, as well as with the government agency in charge of receiving nomination files.
The text also includes specifying the legal period for the electoral campaign, in accordance with the requirements of the amended and supplemented Regulatory Law No. 27.11 relating to the House of Representatives, issued in implementation by Royal Decree No. 1.11.165 dated October 14, 2011, as amended and supplemented, especially in its articles 21, 23, 28 and 31.
According to this decree, the electoral campaign will begin on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at one o’clock in the afternoon, and will continue until midnight on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, that is, one day before the polling date.
It is expected that these elections will constitute an important political milestone for the renewal of members of the House of Representatives, within the framework of the Kingdom’s constitutional and institutional path.
