Nouakchott –The Supreme Authority for Press and Audiovisual Affairs in Mauritania has begun implementing a broad field operation aimed at identifying the various institutions and bodies operating in the media sector, as part of a plan aimed at updating data related to the national journalistic scene.
The Commission stated that the process will include various types of media, whether public or private, in addition to digital platforms, print newspapers, and audio-visual stations, as well as news agencies and professional bodies concerned with journalism.
The supervising authority confirmed that the process will be completed this time through a digital system that uses electronic forms to collect data related to the professional and organizational structure of media institutions.
It is expected that this step will culminate in the preparation of a detailed report on the reality of the media sector in Mauritania, which includes proposals and standards for the professional classification of media institutions operating in the country.
