Benghazi –The head of the Benghazi Forum for Economic and Development warned,Khaled Bouzakouk, from the continuing cyber threats facingLibyan banking sectorHe considered that the weakness of protection systems and digital infrastructure, in addition to the lack of specialized competencies in cybersecurity, increases the vulnerability of banks to electronic attacks.
Bouzakouk explained that the political and economic crisis you are experiencing isLibyaIt directly affected the performance of financial institutions, and contributed to dispersing efforts aimed at developing the banking sector and strengthening its security system.
He added that the sector also suffers from a state of administrative instability, noting thatArrest of a number of senior bank officialsDuring recent months, against the backdrop of corruption and financial embezzlement cases, the weakness of the banking supervision system or its failure to perform its supervisory role as required has been revealed.
He stressed that these data raise questions about the readiness of Libyan banks to confront the increasing cyber threats, in light of the need to modernize the digital infrastructure and enhance electronic protection measures.
