Libya raises the state of alert for a depression and warns citizens of heavy rain

The authorities announced onLibyaRaising the level of preparedness to face the expected weather fluctuations in the coming hours, with a warning of heavy rain that may occur in areas in the north of the country.

The Minister of Water Resources called forGovernment of National UnityHosni Owaidan called for raising the maximum state of readiness of the Ministry’s emergency teams, while intensifying field monitoring of dams and monitoring water levels and the condition of spillways, in addition to ensuring the readiness of operating and drainage systems in anticipation of any emergency.

The Libyan official also stressed strengthening coordination with various competent authorities to ensure rapid intervention and protection of citizens and property in the event of increasing severity of weather fluctuations.

In the capital, Tripoli, Public Services Company teams began operations to pump rainwater and clear drainage channels in a number of streets, with the aim of reducing the impact of precipitation on traffic, while monitoring points that are usually known as water accumulations.

For its part, the Security Directorate issuedTripoliAn urgent alert called on citizens to be careful and not to go out unless necessary during the coming hours, warning drivers against driving on highways and some coastal roads due to winds and high waves.

The authorities also called on residents living near valley streams and low-lying areas to take the necessary precautions, especially during the night.
