Heavy accusations against Algeria and the Polisario of systematic discrimination in the Tindouf camps and calls for an international investigation

A coalition of Sahrawi NGOs brought direct accusations against Algeria andPolisario FrontRegarding what he described as “systematic racial discrimination” inside the Tindouf camps, he called for the opening of an independent international investigation to determine the truth about the humanitarian and human rights conditions there.

The coalition explained, in a statement issued on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, that a number of groups inside the camps suffer from serious violations, including deprivation of civil documents, restrictions on freedom of movement, and difficulties in accessing basic services, with cases recorded that it considered “shocking” related to enslavement and mistreatment.

He also pointed out the absence of an official population census withinCampsIt increases the complexity of the situation and prevents the real needs of the population from being identified, in light of what he described as a legal vacuum and the absence of effective accountability mechanisms.

The statement also stressed that these practices raise serious questions about respect for basic rights, calling on the Algerian authorities to allow independent international monitoring and to strengthen their obligations in the field of human rights in accordance with international standards.

At the conclusion of its positions, the coalition considered that the continuation of these conditions requires urgent action from the international community, in order to ensure the protection of vulnerable groups and put an end to any potential violations inside the camps.
