Rabat –Today, Thursday, the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire reiterated its firm and supportive position in support of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and Morocco’s sovereignty over all of its southern regions, expressing its continued support for the autonomy initiative as a serious and realistic solution to settling the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
This position came in a joint communiqué issued following discussions between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, with his Ivorian counterpart, Nyale Kaba, who is making her first official working visit to the Kingdom of Morocco.
The Ivorian head of diplomacy affirmed her country’s support for the autonomy plan presented by Morocco, praising the adoption by the United Nations Security Council, on October 31, 2025, of Resolution No. 2797, which considered the autonomy initiative the only serious, credible and permanent basis for reaching a political solution to this regional conflict.
For his part, Bourita expressed the Kingdom of Morocco’s appreciation for the Ivorian firm’s position, highlighting that the opening by the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire of a Consulate General in the city of Laayoune in 2020 reflects the depth of the strategic partnership and fraternal relations that bring together the two countries.
