زيلينسكي يحذر من هجوم روسي واسع ويطالب الناتو بتعزيز الدفاعات الجوية

UkraineOn Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on NATO countries to take urgent decisions to strengthen Ukrainian air defenses, warning of Russia’s readiness to carry out a new massive attack, coinciding with the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara.

Zelensky confirmed that the recent wave of Russian attacks resulted in the death of 11 people and the injury of 60 others in the capital, Kiev, in addition to the death of 3 people and the injury of 16 others in the greater Kiev region, while the cities of Zaporizhya, Dnipro, Kherson, and Kharkiv also recorded deaths and injuries as a result of the bombing.

The Ukrainian president explained that Russian forces used 68 missiles and 351 drones during the attack, noting that the air defenses were able to intercept the drones and cruise missiles, but they were unable to confront the ballistic missiles due to the lack of interception missiles.

Based on information from the Ukrainian intelligence services, Zelensky warned that Moscow was preparing to carry out a massive strike at a sensitive time, after American Independence Day and before the start of the NATO summit, calling on citizens to adhere to safety instructions and not to ignore air raid warnings.

The Ukrainian President also called on his country’s allies to expedite the supply of air defense systems and missiles to Kiev, most notably Patriot missiles, stressing that any delay in providing this equipment gives Russia an opportunity to continue targeting residential areas and lead to more casualties.

On Tuesday, Zelensky is expected to participate in the NATO summit as a guest, where he seeks to mobilize additional support to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities in light of the continuing military escalation with Russia.
