Tunisia – The inflation rate in Tunisia recorded a slight decline during the month of June 2026, settling at 5.3% compared to 5.5% during the months of April and May, according to data issued by the National Institute of Statistics, in an indicator that reflects a relative slowdown in the pace of price increases.
The institute explained that this decline is mainly due to the slowdown in the increase in the prices of the food, beverages and tobacco group, despite the continuing inflationary pressures on a number of consumer goods and services.
According to official data, food prices rose by 7.1% on an annual basis, driven by an increase in the prices of meat, fish and fruits, while poultry prices also recorded increases of more than 10%, compared to a decline in the prices of food oils by 5.5%.
The prices of manufactured materials also increased by 4.7% as a result of the increase in the prices of clothing and shoes, while the prices of services increased by 4.3%, driven in particular by the increase in the prices of hotel services by 15.4%.
On the other hand, the institute indicated that the prices of the entertainment and culture group continued to rise during the same period, despite the decline in the general rate of inflation, which reflects the continuing disparity in the pace of price changes between the various sectors.
