Zainab Bint Al-Taqi, head of the Mauritanian “Nama” Party, stressed the importance of strengthening Maghreb cooperation and developing bilateral relations between Morocco andMauritaniaStressing that the current stage requires the building of strong regional blocs capable of influencing the international arena.
Bint Al-Taqi explained, during her participation in the “Masarat” program broadcast by the Independent News Agency, that activating the parliamentary friendship team between Rabat and Nouakchott, in addition to the joint committees, would support economic and political cooperation between the two countries, in a global context that is moving towards alliances and networking of interests.
With regard to the case ofMoroccan SaharaThe party official considered that achieving Maghreb unity remains a strategic option that serves the stability of the region, stressing that the Arab Maghreb Union project remains a common dream, and that the region needs more integration instead of dispersion.
On the internal level, Bint Al-Taqi highlighted that the “Nama” Party is betting on “creating awareness” and promoting the values of citizenship, considering that political work should not be limited to electoral entitlements, but rather requires framing citizens and staying away from opportunistic practices.
She also stressed that the party adopts an approach based on supporting positive initiatives and presenting constructive proposals, in exchange for clearly criticizing the imbalances, with the aim of consolidating a political scene based on competence and integrity.
In her assessment of the internal situation in Mauritania, Bint Al-Taqi considered that decentralization workshops are still limited in effectiveness, calling for reforming administration and developing governance, with a focus on investing in education and human resources as a basic input for achieving development, in addition to working on a more balanced distribution of power.
