ليبيا على أعتاب طفرة غازية كبرى بعد اكتشاف ضخم قبالة سواحلها

Libya is on the cusp of a major gas boom after a huge discovery off its coast

My press – Libya

The Italian “Eni” group announced the achievement of two new natural gas discoveries off the Libyan coast, with a total reserve exceeding one trillion cubic feet, as part of an ongoing exploration campaign during recent months inEastern Mediterranean.

The company explained that the two discoveries were recorded within the “Al-Matlawi” formation, which is considered one of the most prominent producing reservoirs in the region, as well tests confirmed the availability of a high-quality reservoir with promising production capabilities.

For its part, the National Oil Corporation of Libya reported that these discoveries are expected to add about 130 million cubic feet per day of gas, which would support the country’s capabilities in meeting local demand and enhancing exports, especially to the Italian market.

The two new wells, “Bahr El Salam South 2” and “Bahr El Salam South 3”, are located approximately 85 kilometers from the coast and 16 kilometers south of the Bahr El Salam field, the largest offshore field inLibyaThis allows them to be quickly connected to existing infrastructure to accelerate the start of production.

It is expected that this development will contribute to reducing pressure on energy supplies, in light of the increasing global demand forGasWhile Eni continues to strengthen its historical presence in Libya, extending since the late 1950s.
