Morocco reveals a record outcome in the fight against immigration and confirms its commitment to international partnership

Rabat –A government source confirmed, on Monday, that the Kingdom of Morocco continues to play its role as a reliable and responsible partner in the fight against irregular migration, stressing that managing this file represents a shared responsibility between the various parties, and that Morocco “always bears its share of it” without submitting to any pressure or blackmail.

The source explained that the Kingdom’s commitment to combating irregular migration stems from a firm conviction of responsibility, and not in response to any coercions, stressing that Morocco has remained a “sovereign, loyal and responsible” partner in this field.

He pointed out that irregular migration is a complex phenomenon that requires all parties to assume their responsibilities, highlighting that the results achieved by Morocco reflect the volume of efforts made on the ground, even though some of them have become seen as a normal matter.

The source added that the stability of the western Mediterranean coast, compared to other migration routes towards Europe, is due to the intense efforts made by Morocco in confronting human trafficking networks, by mobilizing important human, technical and financial capabilities.

He also described cooperation between Morocco and Spain in the field of migration management as “exemplary,” noting continued coordination between the two countries to confront the challenges of irregular migration.

According to official data, the Moroccan authorities thwarted 74,000 attempts at irregular migration during the year 2025, and 79,000 attempts during the year 2024, meaning a total of about 160,000 attempts over two years. 632 networks active in irregular migration were also dismantled during the same period, in addition to successfully carrying out more than 32,000 rescue operations at sea.

The government source confirmed that the total number of irregular immigration attempts that were thwarted during the past five years exceeded 360,000 attempts, an indication of the extent of the efforts made by the Kingdom in this field.
