Rabat –Today, Friday in Rabat, the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, held discussions with the Minister of the Interior, Decentralization Promotion and Local Development of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed El Amin, within the framework of a working visit by the Mauritanian official to the Kingdom on July 17 and 18.
A statement from the Ministry of the Interior stated that this meeting falls within the context of the distinguished relations of brotherhood and cooperation that bring together the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani, aiming to consolidate South-South cooperation and enhance solidarity and joint action to confront regional challenges.
During the discussions, the two ministers praised the strength of bilateral relations, stressing their joint determination to advance cooperation between the two Ministries of Interior in a way that reflects the advanced level reached by the partnership between the two countries.
The meeting dealt with a number of issues of common interest, as the discussions focused on enhancing security cooperation, immigration issues, and decentralized cooperation, in addition to developing coordination and consultation mechanisms between the two sides.
The two ministers agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields related to the competencies of their ministries, and to intensify consultation on files of common interest, within a framework of mutual trust, partnership and solidarity, in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly countries.
The Ministry of Interior’s statement confirmed that this visit reflects the positive dynamic witnessed by Moroccan-Mauritanian relations, and embodies the common will to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand its fields, in line with the aspirations of the two countries towards greater integration and coordination.
